DBKL says that landlords can request changes to parcel use, density and ratio in accordance with the 2020 Kuala Lumpur City Plan.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL) has denied the allegations of Deputy Cheras Tan Kok Wai regarding the sale of 42 plots of land owned by DBKL to the private sector for the development of residential and commercial projects.

DBKL, in a statement today, also denied allegations that the 42 parcels of land were sold during Annuar Musa’s eight-month tenure as Minister of Federal Territories, an online news portal reported yesterday.

“DBKL would like to emphasize that the allegations are not true at all.

“Based on our controls, there are 42 privately owned parcels of land in Kuala Lumpur that requested changes in use, density and parcel ratio in accordance with the Kuala Lumpur City Plan 2020 (KLCP 2020).

“The Federal Territory (Planning) Law of 1982 (Law 267) establishes that landowners change land use, density and proportion of parcels in the Local Plan (KLCP 2020), which has been published. This provision is in line with Section 17 of Law 267, ”the statement said.

According to DBKL, of the 42 parcels, three change requests had been published, six are in the process of being published and another 33 are under review, with all processes carried out in accordance with the provisions of the current law.

Meanwhile, on the 97 land sale transactions belonging to DBKL, he said that those transactions were carried out before 2020 and did not involve the current Minister of Federal Territories.

Tan’s accusation was reported yesterday by an online news portal. He claimed that during Annuar’s tenure, many parcels of land owned by DBKL were sold to the private sector for the development of housing and commercial projects.
