PETALING JAYA: Two motorists have been identified for driving in the motorcycle lane along Federal Highway.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said that a police officer had found two videos about the incidents on social media on Wednesday (September 2).

“The first video showed a Toyota Vios driven by a 33-year-old man, while the second was of a 33-year-old woman driving a Perodua Bezza.

“They were both driving from Kuala Lumpur to Klang,” he said in a statement on Thursday (September 3).

He said both drivers had admitted to driving while using Waze, which led them into “a little alley.”

“They both realized their mistake after noticing many motorcycles and were stopped by the drivers.

“They were later sent back to the main highway,” he said, adding that the case was investigated under Section 79 (2) of the Highway Transportation Act of 1987.

ACP Nik Ezanee said both drivers could face a fine of no more than RM2,000 or face a maximum of six months in jail or both if convicted.
