PETALING JAYA: Warisan MPs, who abstained from voting during budget debates yesterday, have been attacked by PH leaders for “disappointing taxpayers.”
Former Johor DAP President Dr. Boo Cheng Hau said that Warisan had joined PH for the sake of Sabah and should act accordingly, to fight for the best interests of Sabahans.
“The Sabahans voted for you to represent them in Parliament. He was not chosen only to vent personal grudges against a single leader or against the PH himself.
“You should oppose anything in the Supply Bill 2021 that is deemed disadvantageous for Sabah,” it said today in a post on its Facebook page.
Boo added that Warisan lawmakers had failed taxpayers by not voting against the budgets of the Prime Minister’s Department and the Ministry of Finance that were approved yesterday in Dewan Rakyat by a slim majority in a block vote.
“You had the opportunity to make your vote count, but you chose to shirk your responsibilities at the expense of taxpayers. They are paying for your voice in Parliament, not for your vacation, ”he said.
Last night, Sabah PKR Youth’s chief information officer, Razeef Rakimin, responded to comments by Warisan spokesperson Rozman Isli about why party deputies had been absent during the vote, describing his excuse as “childish.”
Using the example of the last state election, Razeef said that Warisan’s arrogance would be his undoing. Like Boo, Razeef told the Warisan MPs to fulfill their responsibilities to the Sabahans.
Yesterday, Rozman, who is a Labuan MP, acknowledged that the absence of Warisan MPs was a deliberate move to show the party’s discontent with opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim. He added that Warisan intended not to participate during the block votes on the budget indefinitely.
