A busy road in Kota Kinabalu appears deserted due to the MCO. Sabah decided today to reopen the construction, maintenance and forestry sectors.

KOTA KINABALU: Warisan has responded to Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) for his criticism of Prime Minister Shafie Apdal, who the party claimed had made a “U-turn” regarding the movement control order (MCO) in the state .

Warisan Secretary-General Loretto Padua dismissed statements by PBS chief information officer Joniston Bangkuai, saying the opposition party was running out of ideas to defend the federal government over the implementation of the conditional MCO (CMCO).

Padua said Shafie had previously explained that the state government took the safety and health of people in Sabah more seriously than the economy.

He added that the prime minister had also stated that the state needed to study the CMCO in detail before implementing it.

Warisan Secretary General Loretto Padua.

“There is no” U-turn “here because the government’s decision to allow sectors like agriculture and forestry to reopen today was made after this detailed study.

“Don’t politicize this issue,” he said in a statement here today.

Padua told Bangkuai not to criticize the prime minister who administered Sabah without federal interference because the state wanted freedom of decision-making.

“The important thing is that the state government has given the guidelines to the business sectors, with the standard operating procedures to be observed,” he said.

Bangkuai had hit Shafie earlier today for his “sudden turnaround” in deciding to implement the CMCO, saying the change in direction had created confusion among the people.
