Visitors to Malaysia, Tawau Courts Urged to Submit to Covid-19 Screening

KOTA KINABALU: People who visited the Malaysian court facilities in Kubota Sentral, Tawau from March 22 to today (April 3) were urged to undergo a Covid-19 screening test at health clinics closer.

The state’s Minister of Housing and Local Government, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, said this happened after the detection of the Kubota Sentral Cluster, which so far registered nine positive cases, including two today.

“The index case is a 25-year-old man who is a salesman in the home goods store. The index case was confirmed positive after undergoing symptomatic individual screening on March 29.

“Six people tested positive as a result of a workplace examination, while two more cases were detected by a close contact examination. Contact tracing is ongoing and the cause of the cluster infections is still being investigated, ”he said in a statement here tonight.

Meanwhile, Masidi said the increase in Covid-19 infections in Sabah is attributed to social gatherings such as weddings and parties.

“Given this, the state government will develop an application that will allow the public to register any event,” he said.

Masidi said Sabah registered 73 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 54,989. – Named
