MIRI (February 3): The Miri Hospital administration has clarified that a viral video on social networks that allegedly showed an angry family member of a hospital patient was not filmed in the hospital’s Covid-19 quarantine rooms .
To protect the interest of the patient and their families, the hospital management in a press release issued today said it hoped the public would stop spreading the video on social media.
Management said the incident occurred after a member of the patient’s family refused to cooperate and comply with hospital policies.
During the incident, hospital staff had responded by recording a video for the purpose of informing and seeking assistance from the respective department head and other hospital colleagues about the incident.
With the help of the police, the incident was resolved, the statement added.
After a counseling session, the family member in the video admitted to being in a state of “high emotional stress” and was concerned about the patient’s condition.
In an effort to reduce the risk of Covid-19 infections among staff and the public, the hospital administration has recently enforced stricter patient care policies and limited visits to its wards.
In the viral video, the woman who appeared to be a family member of a patient at the hospital could be seen arguing with hospital staff members who tried to get her out of the room.
