Usno’s de facto leader, Pandikar Amin Mulia, says that the Usno 2020 manifesto was drawn up based on several factors, including Putrajaya’s relationship with Sabah.

KOTA KINABALU: The United National Organization of Sabah (Usno) will fight for a Deputy Prime Minister post for Sabah or Sarawak if it wins in the next Sabah state elections.

This promise is contained in the party’s electoral manifesto released by its de facto boss Pandikar Amin Mulia here today.

Speaking at the ceremony, Pandikar said that the Usno 2020 manifesto was divided into two sections: New Deal and New Deal, which contained five and eight items respectively.

He said the manifesto was drawn up based on several factors, including changes in sentiment, as well as the current relationship between Sabah and the federal governments.

He said the promises in the manifesto were aimed at uplifting the dignity and well-being of Sabahans.

He said the manifesto promised to secure the appointment of a senior Sabah minister in the Federal Cabinet for portfolios such as finance, rural development, education and defense.

Pandikar said Usno also wanted to ensure that all federal department and agency heads positions in Sabah were handed over to Sabahans.

He said the manifesto also outlined Usno’s promise to strengthen people’s safety, including ensuring that the issuance of citizenship documents in Sabah is administered and approved by the state government.

He said Usno is also committed to continuing to develop the state’s infrastructure and ensuring that the basic needs of the people are met.

He added that the party would review oil revenues and royalties and ensure that Sabah can borrow funds and issue bonds outside the country with guarantees from the federal government.

On the New Deal, Pandikar said the points included ensuring a clean government, with all government dealings based on merit and the needs of the people.

He said the manifesto was also committed to ensuring that all taxes in Sabah were collected, administered and distributed by the Sabah Internal Revenue Board before they were shared with Putrajaya.
