PETALING JAYA: The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) says it has found “conclusive evidence” that certain Top Glove Corp Bhd products have been manufactured using the use of convicted, forced or contract labor.
A notice published today in the US Federal Register notified the public that CBP, with the approval of the Secretary of Homeland Security, has determined that “certain disposable gloves have been extracted, produced or manufactured in Malaysia by Top Glove Corporation Bhd with the use of convicts, forced or contract labor, and are being, or are likely to be, imported into the United States. “
He said he can now confiscate and lose all gloves that have entered the United States or those that may enter in the future.
In July, CBP issued an import restriction order to two subsidiaries of Top Glove, the world’s largest manufacturer of medical gloves, after claiming it had reasonable, but inconclusive, information to indicate that it produced goods through forced labor.
With the latest move, the products of all subsidiaries were banned.
Top Glove has 60 companies within its group and exports to more than 195 countries.
