Photos of health authorities outside the UOB branch in Kepong have been circulating on social media since reports of the shutdown went viral.

PETALING JAYA: The United Overseas Bank (UOB) temporarily closed its Kepong branch in Kuala Lumpur as of today to disinfect the premises after one of its employees tested positive for Covid-19 after returning from Sabah.

In a statement, UOB said that the branch will reopen once it has received the necessary authorization from health authorities.

The employee, a branch-based mortgage specialist, had been in Lahad Datu and Semporna, Sabah from September 10-13.

“We have followed up on the contacts and all colleagues and clients who were in close contact with the confirmed case will be notified at the end of the day.

“They are being asked to self-quarantine for 14 days while they monitor their health and await further instructions from the authorities. We are working closely with the health authorities in any follow-up measure that may be necessary, ”said the bank.
