KOTA KINABALU: Umno’s Chief Information Officer Sharil Sufian Hamdan (Photo) has tested positive for Covid-19 after returning from the election campaign for the Sabah elections.
He posted his health status on Twitter, saying he had no obvious symptoms but was feeling fatigued.
“I just received a call and will be answered today. I am sorry for the inconvenience this will cause to the people who contacted me,” he said on Wednesday (September 23).
Sharil is the latest Umno leader to test positive after Supreme Council member Datuk Mohd Razlan Rafii, following his return from a campaign in Sipitang.
Sabah has seen a spike in Covid-19 cases recently, just as voters prepare to head to the polls on September 26.
On Tuesday (September 22), Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, however, that the situation is under control and the elections can continue.
It also recommended that leaders and the public strictly follow standard operating procedures to minimize the spread of Covid-19.
Covid +. There are no obvious symptoms melainkan penat sikit. I decided to test prudence in KL yesterday after the case spikes as I had been campaigning in Sabah. I just received a call and will be taken care of today. I am sorry for the inconvenience this will cause to those who came into contact.
