PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth has urged PPBM to stop all attempts to “steal and buy” from its members, following claims by its rank and file that it had offered between RM100 and RM5,000 for people to trade matches.

Umno Youth Chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said that if this practice were to continue, it would confirm the perception that the purpose of PPBM and the formation of Perikatan Nasional (PN) was to “weaken and replace” Umno.

“We must seek points of mutual understanding and resolve our differences at the same time as we put an end to any effort aimed at weakening each other, in the interests of greater unity,” he said today in a statement.

Rather than funnel its funds into establishing its divisions, Asyraf said PPBM should focus its efforts on helping people.

He added that the relationship between the two parties will only worsen with the excuse of the PPBM leadership that members of the Umno are free to join the party, based on the principle of “openness.”

“Almost all PPBM parliamentarians, including those who ‘jumped’ from Umno, are now ministers or vice ministers.

“The focus of all resources should be on helping people suffering from the pandemic.”

Meanwhile, PPBM’s chief information officer, Wan Saiful Wan Jan, told Asyraf to prove his claims that Umno members were offered money to leave the party, saying it was a “wild accusation” and without foundation. .

“I demand that Asyraf apologize and retract his accusations immediately.

“I will also discuss with the party the need to take legal action on this,” he said in a Facebook post.
