Umno Secretary General Ahmad Maslan said the party’s annual general meeting will also depend on the Covid-19 situation in the country.

PETALING JAYA: Umno General Secretary Ahmad Maslan says the party’s annual general meeting could be held virtually if the movement control order (MCO) and the emergency are prolonged.

Ahmad, who is also the general secretary of Barisan Nasional, said that this will also depend on the Covid-19 situation in the country, adding that the party’s Supreme Council will decide on this.

“If the MCO and the emergency are still here, then we will do the AGM virtually.

“Umno will keep moving forward no matter how big the challenge,” he said in a Twitter post today.

The party’s annual assembly is scheduled to decide on its relationship with PPBM, after the gap between the two parties widened and most of Umno’s 191 party divisions called for it to stop its cooperation with PPBM.

A decision in the AGM to withdraw support for the PPBM is expected to lead to the collapse of the PN government.

Kelantan Umno chief Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, who is a Machang MP, as well as Padang Rengas MP and former Minister Nazri Aziz have already withdrawn their support for the government.
