PETALING JAYA: Two staff members from the Port Klang Authority (PKA) contracted Covid-19, says their general manager, Captain K. Subramaniam.
He said the two cases tested positive on December 29 and 31.
He added that PKA has taken steps to clean up its headquarters on January 1, 2021, in accordance with the health and safety guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health.
“The PKA headquarters will be closed for the day and will reopen on January 2 for Free Trade Zone and Dangerous Goods transactions.
“The closure is not expected to cause any disruption as currently all transactions are made through the online system.
“The physical presentation of documents, if necessary, will be postponed until January 2 and onwards.
“PKA headquarters will reopen normal operations on January 4,” it said in a statement on Friday (January 1).
Active contact tracing is underway, he said, and co-workers of infected employees are undergoing home quarantine and testing.
“PKA wishes to reaffirm our commitment to ensuring the health, safety and well-being of our employees, customers and users of the port.
“We will continue to be vigilant in our efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19 while ensuring that the port and logistics sector continues to operate with minimal disruption to the supply chain,” he said.
