Two new clusters linked to workplaces detected in KL, Selangor, says DG Health

PUTRAJAYA: More clusters of infections linked to workplaces have been detected, and the Ministry of Health classified two new ones in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said one of the new groups, called Solar Ria, was first spotted in Sepang, before spreading to the Kuala Selangor, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu districts. Langat.

“So far, 2,339 people in this group have been screened and 25 have been confirmed positive for Covid-19. Nine are Malaysians while 16 are foreigners, ”Dr Noor Hisham said at a press conference on Monday (December 14).

The other new group, called the Senu Setia group, is linked to a workplace in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur.

“A total of 26 people linked to this group have been examined. So far, 13 positive cases have been found and all are not from Malaysia, ”said Dr. Noor Hisham.

In total, there are currently 418 active groups across the country.

Dr. Noor Hisham also announced the closure of two groups, which have not reported a single Covid-19 infection for 28 days in a row.

This included the Benteng LD cluster in Sabah, which has been attributed to the start of the current Covid-19 wave in the state.

The group, linked to the inmates, had the Covid-19 infection spread throughout the districts of Lahad Datu, Tawau, Sandakan, Kinabatangan and Tuaran.

It has registered a total of 1,146 cases and one death.

Another group declared closed is the Greenhill group in Sarawak, which recorded 91 cases in total and no deaths.

In total, 227 clusters have been completed in the country.
