PETALING JAYA: There are two more days left for Malaysians to renew their expired road tax and driver’s license that expired during the motion control order (MCO).

The 70% discount on JPJ citations will also expire on the same date.

“Discounts and suspension to renew expired road tax and driver’s license during MCO will end on September 30.

“We are calling on motorists to do this early to avoid problems during the last minute rush,” the Department of Highway Transportation (JPJ) said on Facebook on Tuesday (September 29).

On June 17, JPJ had assured more than two million Malaysians whose driving license and road tax expired during the MCO period that no action would be taken against them.

Then, on August 29, Transport Minister Datuk Seri, Dr. Wee Ka Siong, announced that the deadline had been extended to September 30, in line with the extension of the recovery MCO.

Dr Wee said the decision was made after taking into consideration the financial difficulties and problems people face after their income was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
