Putrajaya has allocated RM120 million to provide RM600 a month in financial assistance to workers who are on unpaid leave by their companies.

PETALING JAYA: The Social Security Organization says that a tweet declaring the end of the Employment Retention Program (ERP) for unpaid, licensed workers was “unauthorized.”

Socso said the tweet does not describe the actual progress of the ERP.

He was responding to criticism on social media about the ERP’s alleged ending after the tweet was posted.

Putrajaya has allocated RM120 million to provide RM600 per month in financial assistance to workers who are licensed by their companies without pay. Assistance is paid through employers.

“As of May 1, 2020, Socso had received 27,222 applications from employers, involving 230,652 workers.

“The RM120 million allocation represents one month’s financial assistance to 200,000 workers under this program.

“Currently, Socso is processing the applications, according to the established conditions.

“The ERP is still in operation and Socso ensures that all who have applied for it until April 27 will continue to receive the financial assistance that was approved.”
