PETALING JAYA: The driver of the truck that crashed into a police obstacle that led to the death of a corporal has been held for three days.

Selangor CID chief, Communications Assistant Datuk Fadzil Ahmat said the suspect was detained until Monday (May 11).

“The suspect was arrested again on Friday under Section 304 of the Penal Code for wrongful death and Section 269 of the same code for negligent acts such as spreading infection from any disease.”

“He has been sent for further investigation,” he said when contacted on Saturday (May 9).

The suspect was initially arrested on May 3 under Section 41 (1) of the Highway Transportation Act of 1987 for causing death by reckless driving.

His return had been completed on Friday (May 8) and he was released on police bail, but was soon arrested again.

On Sunday (May 3), a police officer on duty died after a suspected drunk driver crashed into him in an obstacle on the Lekas ​​road.

The victim has been identified as Corporal Safwan Muhammad Ismail, 31, who was attached to the Kajang Police Headquarters.

He was buried on Monday (May 4) in Ipoh, Perak.
