Chief Security Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob says people cannot travel from Sabah to the mainland, Sarawak and Labuan from tomorrow until October 20.

PETALING JAYA: The government has decided to ban all forms of travel outside of Sabah to the mainland, Sarawak and Labuan from tomorrow until October 20.

Chief Security Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said exemptions will only be granted to certain cases involving emergencies, deaths, essential services and others that will require approval from the Health Ministry.

“Those who have been approved will be required to undergo a Covid-19 assessment upon arrival at their destination,” he said in a statement today.

Travelers who will be allowed to enter Sabah include Sabahans who have H-code MyKads and spouses of Sabahans who have valid Malaysian immigration passes or proof of marriage or birth certificates of their children.

Essential service workers with valid immigration passes, non-Sabahan students with Sabah Department of Immigration student passes, and permanent residents with an H-code MyPR card or permit endorsements on their passports will also be able to enter the state.

Members of the federal public administration serving in Sabah will need a stamp from the Sabah Immigration Department once they have entered the state.

These travelers must apply to the Chief Minister’s Department through the office of internal affairs and investigation.

They will also undergo Covid-19 screenings as soon as they arrive in Sabah.

In another matter, Ismail said that police yesterday arrested 363 people for violating the control order of the ongoing recovery movement.

He said 307 were fined and 56 in preventive detention.

Most of them were captured for not registering their personal data when entering stores (129), not wearing masks (144) and not observing physical distancing (53).

The others were arrested in pubs and nightclubs, violating quarantine orders, entering closed areas without permission, operating businesses after hours, engaging in gambling activities, and without valid documents.

Police also detained 151 undocumented immigrants and a trafficker yesterday as part of their ongoing Ops Benteng campaign. They also confiscated five land vehicles.
