PETALING JAYA: A traffic officer on the Kajang MRT line tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently being treated at Sungai Buloh Hospital.

Prasarana Malaysia Berhad said it had carried out disinfection and cleaning work last night based on guidelines set by the Ministry of Health.

He said daily disinfection and cleaning jobs on the trains after operations are completed are part of Rapid Rail’s standard procedure. The infected officer was last on duty on October 21.

“All other staff who had close contact with the infected employee have been instructed to perform screening tests and undergo a 14-day self-quarantine as stipulated in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs),” Prasarana said today in a statement. .

It added that all relevant agencies, including the National Security Council, the Ministry of Transportation and the Public Land Transportation Agency (APAD), had been informed of the measures that had been taken.

“Prasaranas management and staff, especially Rapid Rail and Rapid Bus employees, had been trained to implement the highest standards and protocols for hygiene and sanitation related to Covid-19 in accordance with the health and safety guidelines established by the Ministry of Health ”. He said.

“The Kajang MRT line service and all other public transport services operated by Prasarana (LRT, monorail, bus rapid transit and scenic buses) are safe for use by the public.”

He said travelers must adhere to SOPs, especially if they wear face masks, so that their body temperature is monitored and they log in to the MySejahtera app or the log book provided before boarding.
