Traffic officer at MRT Kajang Line tests positive for Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd confirmed today that its staff member, who works as a transit officer for the Kajang MRT line, has tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently in quarantine at Sungai Buloh Hospital.

The company, in a statement, said that as the operator of MRT Kajang Line, it has ensured that the employee’s workplace is cleaned and disinfected in accordance with the Ministry of Health (MoH) guidelines last night.

“As for the trains, it is standard procedure that all trains are disinfected and cleaned every night after operations.

“All other personnel who have had close contact with the employee have been urged to self-quarantine for 14 days as established in the Ministry of Health’s SOPs,” the statement said, adding that the employee had not been in service since October 21.

All relevant agencies were informed, including the National Security Council, the Transport Ministry and the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad), it added.

The Kajang MRT Line service and all other public transport services operated by Prasarana Sdn Bhd (LRT, Monorail, Bus Rapid Transit, and Stage Buses) are safe for public use and travelers are advised to comply with the SOP.

These include wearing face masks, checking their body temperature and registering in the MySejahtera app or log book, before boarding the train, he said.
