Tottenham’s lineup that should start against Chelsea

José Mourinho’s second season at Tottenham is underway and his team is firmly in the mix at the top end of the Premier League – he was unable to do so in his second season at a club. again Could he?

If the Portuguese strategist harbors genuine hopes of a title tilt, matches like this weekend’s trip to Chelsea, high-flying teammates, will certainly prove crucial.

Having played as recently as Thursday in the Europa League, Mourinho has more than his fair share of selection headaches to contend with, and there will be wholesale changes to the starting XI that prevailed against Ludogorets.

Let’s take a look at how we expect the Spurs to line up for their massive clash at Stamford Bridge.

Hugo Lloris (GK): He was off midweek when Joe Hart had a rare outing against Ludogorets. Three impressive clean sheets in his four previous Premier League games, but he will undoubtedly be tested to the full by Chelsea’s front row.

Matt Doherty (RB): Having endured a period of self-isolation following a positive coronavirus test, Doherty is back in the fray. Despite playing midweek, he is likely to get the nod before Serge Aurier as the Spurs look to combat Chelsea’s attacking threat from the wings.

Joe Rodon (CB): With Toby Alderweireld offside with a muscle injury and Davinson Sánchez playing the full 90 minutes midweek, Joe Rodon is expected to have his first Premier League start. Talk about being thrown to the bottom.

Eric Dier (CB): He appears to be Mourinho’s number one center-back this season and has started to look much more solid given the time under the Portuguese manager.

Sergio Reguilon (LB): It already seems like a canny acquisition. He will have to be at his best against the menacing Hakim Ziyech, but he will hope to cause some trouble for Chelsea’s left side.

Moussa Sissoko (CM): Away from the midfielder, Spurs thought they were buying in 2016, but by no means less comprehensive for this side of Mourinho. It provides power and mobility and could be key as your team seeks to win the midfield battle.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (CM): Barely a tent arrival but it has settled brilliantly. The type of player that every good Mourinho team has in their heart and is doing the dirty work so that others can show their talents.

Tanguy Ndombele (CM): Quite the opposite of Hojbjerg in terms of time to settle in. He suffered some well-documented early problems in his first season at the club following his big move, but he’s beginning to flourish and can be a real asset to this Spurs team. .

Steven Bergwijn (RW): With Gareth Bale and Lucas Moura both used from the start against Ludogorets on Thursday, the Dutchman is likely to retain his place in the Spurs Premier League starting eleven.

Harry Kane (ST): Another of the key men of the Spurs who rested for the commitments of the Europa League during the week. He has been in brilliant form this season and will provide Chelsea’s new bottom line with its biggest test yet.

Son of Heung-min (LW): Only Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored more Premier League goals than Son this year and his bonding game with Kane is one of the main reasons Spurs are viewed as true title contenders. If he can isolate aging Thiago Silva, the Spurs could be in business.
