The Republic of Ireland international joined Wolves in 2010 from the Bohemians of the Irish League and went on to make more than 300 appearances for the club in all competitions.

“At Wolves I just had all the experiences: disappointment and then obviously I got promoted and things like that, but then I took it to the next level and made it to Europe too,” Doherty said in a statement.

“I think it would have been difficult [to leave Wolves] if maybe I was going backwards or to the sides, but I feel like in Tottenham now I’m taking a big step forward, just with the facilities, everything at the club and the coach here. “

The winger was part of two promotions when Wolves joined the Premier League and qualified for the Europa League.

Doherty has been an integral part of the Wolves’ setup, missing just seven league games in four years.

Since the team returned to the Premier League, it has participated in 95 games in all competitions, contributing 15 goals and 15 assists.

The 28-year-old, who made his senior debut in 2018, has been chosen by Ireland coach Stephen Kenny for the team’s Nations League matches against Bulgaria and Finland.
