PUTRAJAYA: There are now two separate standard operating procedures for flights, with those flying to Sabah and Sarawak at full capacity, as disembarking passengers will have to undergo mandatory quarantine as directed by state governments.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the same applies to flights from international destinations as passengers will also be quarantined.

“For destinations within the peninsula, flights can only fly with 66.4% passenger capacity, since it is necessary to observe social distancing.

“The same policy applies to flights from Sabah and Sarawak to the peninsula, as we do not observe mandatory quarantine on those coming from the two states,” he said.

Passengers who flew on two AirAsia Kuala Lumpur-Tawau flights were reportedly asked to be tested for Covid-19 immediately, after six passengers tested positive for the disease.

The affected flights were AK5742 on May 1 and AK5740 on May 4.
