PUTRAJAYA: The Top Glove workers’ dormitory and the surrounding area will be placed under an enhanced movement control order starting Tuesday (November 17), says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said the decision was made following an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases reported in the area.
As of November 15, there were 215 positive cases.
“The Ministry of Health has carried out a risk assessment and studied the probability of infection and has recommended to the special meeting of the National Security Council that it enforce the improved MCO in the area for 14 days until November 30,” he said at his regular briefing on Monday (Nov 16).
The affected area is the dormitory for male workers and Jalan Abadi 1A / KU8, and the dormitory for female workers, as well as Jalan Abadi 1A and Jalan Abadi 10 / KU8.
The blockade involves 13,190 workers and about 1,200 residents.
Ismail said that placing the area under an improved MCO would allow health authorities to conduct specific examinations of workers and residents in the affected area.
“Top Glove management must carry out checks on all workers in the factory and in shelters that supply workers to the factory.
“The company must also clean up the factory facilities,” he said.
