KUALA LUMPUR: Top Glove Corp Bhd It has increased the remediation sum it would pay its migrant workers to RM 136,000.
“Migrant workers will receive remediation for the next 10 months, starting in October 2020,” the glove maker said today in a presentation to Bursa Malaysia.
Top Glove had previously made the first two repair payments in August and September 2020.
“The remediation will now be based on the revised sum of approximately RM136 million, according to the independent consultant’s recommendations, following the completion of the independent consultant’s comprehensive verification work,” it said.
Top Glove also said that it has submitted the necessary information to the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and is closely following with them, with a view to a speedy resolution of the matter and revocation of the Withholding Release Order.
The United States’ CBP had placed an arrest warrant on imports from two Top Glove subsidiaries since July, a measure taken against companies suspected of operating with forced labor.
