Top Glove says only 17 employees, less than 0.1% of the workforce, have tested positive for Covid-19 since January

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 5): Top Glove Corp Bhd said that only 17 of its employees, or less than 0.1% of its total workforce of 21,000 people, have tested positive for Covid-19 since January 2020.

In a statement today, Top Glove said affected employees were asymptomatic and most did not have a fever.

The glove maker said they were isolated after a swab test taken Monday and admitted to hospital for treatment after their results came back positive.

Top Glove said that a deep cleaning and complete sanitation of the affected factory, homes and company vehicles had been carried out in accordance with Ministry of Health (MoH) guidelines.

“At the same time, contacts are being traced and employees in close contact with affected employees have been assessed and placed in home quarantine pending their results.

“There is no impact on Top Glove’s operations,” he said.

Top Glove reiterated that the safety and well-being of its employees and external partners are of the utmost importance, and has implemented several standard operating procedures (SOPs) to help curb the spread of the virus, including registration of employees and visitors. as temperature controls before they are allowed into the Top Glove facility.

He said this includes enforcing the use of face masks for everyone on the company’s premises, placing markers for physical distancing and the provision of hand sanitizers in various locations.

As of 9.12am today, Top Glove had fallen 0.86% or seven sen to RM8.03, valuing the stock at RM65.79 billion.
