KUALA LUMPUR (November 23): Top Glove Corp Bhd has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) in the Emerging Markets category for the second consecutive year.
In a statement today, the world’s largest glove maker said it ranks 13th out of a total of 73 healthcare companies across all DJSI indexes, outperforming 83% of its industry peers.
“This is a further improvement over last year’s performance when it ranked 15th out of 44 healthcare companies across all DJSI indices, outperforming 67% of its industry peers,” the group said, adding that it is the only Malaysian company listed on the DJSI 2020.
The DJSI Emerging Markets Index tracks the sustainability performance of the top 10% largest Emerging Markets companies in the S&P Global Broad Market Index and serves as a key benchmark for investors and businesses alike.
Top Glove said this is a testament to the company’s good practices in the economic, environmental and social (EES) space.
Additionally, Top Glove said its Factory 29 (F29) has emerged as a winner at the 2020 National Energy Awards (NEA), in Category 1 (Major Industries).
Organized by the Malaysian Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA), the 2020 NEA Awards recognize the efforts of companies to promote the nation’s progress towards a more sustainable future.
Top Glove said that F29 earned its victory for its efforts in energy saving, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, reducing water use, its commitment to utility saving initiatives, with good future planning of similar initiatives. for future years and innovative and novel utility saving projects. implemented.
The initiatives are also being rolled out in the company’s existing glove factories and will be fully implemented in all new glove factories in the future, Top Glove said.
