KUALA LUMPUR: Top Glove Corporation Bhd has confirmed that 17 cases among its employees, representing less than 0.1 percent of the total workforce of the 21,000-person group, have tested positive for COVID-19 since January 2020.

In a statement, the world’s largest glove maker said affected employees were asymptomatic and most did not have a fever.

They were isolated after a swab test taken Monday and have since been admitted to a hospital for treatment after their results came back positive.

The deep cleaning and complete sanitation of the affected factory, houses and vehicles of the company were carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, he said.

At the same time, contacts are being traced and employees in close contact with affected employees have been screened and placed in home quarantine pending results.
