PETALING JAYA: Umno President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is the latest to respond to Tommy Thomas’s memoir, saying that the former attorney general (AG) was simply seeking publicity and that people should not be influenced by the content of his book. .

In a Facebook post, Zahid accused Thomas of being irresponsible and trying to affect people’s trust in the government.

He said Thomas had broken his oath as attorney general, which was to protect government secrets even after his resignation.

“When information obtained by any office is classified as ‘top secret’, ‘top secret’ or ‘confidential’, it is subject to the Official Secrets Act and should not be shared with the public,” he said.

Zahid said Thomas’s accounts of the performance of other assistant prosecutors and government officials could lead people to have a negative perception of the Attorney General’s Office.

He also said that other “inaccurate” statements in the memoirs were intended to defame Umno or Barisan Nasional, various individuals and political leaders.
