Timo Werner’s transfer could take an unexpected turn if Liverpool follow a family path

Some reports have claimed that Liverpool was unable to sign at all this summer due to the financial impact of the coronavirus. Does that worry you at all?

It raises some concern, but, in this current climate, I don’t think we should read too much.

The club likes to keep their cards close to their chest and we were in an unusual situation.

Before the pandemic, it seemed certain that Timo Werner would join, but he moved forward a few months quickly, and we are in a completely different situation.

After this pandemic, there are many things in this world that will be different, and soccer is no exception.

Soccer is one of the things that has been massively affected financially, and I think many clubs will be forced to change their transfer plans.

That being said, I think that, of all the Premier League clubs and even looking at clubs across Europe, Liverpool is in an ideal position and potentially perhaps one of the least affected.

Our squad, as we have seen in the zoom calls, is very close with some brilliant leaders and strong personalities there; all echoing the mindset of Jurgen Klopp.

If people don’t leave, then you don’t need to go out and spend a lot of cash.

There have been many players who have been linked with Liverpool for years and then it has not happened. Are you concerned that this is the case with Timo Werner?

I alluded to this in my previous answer when I said that I think Werner was almost a certainty before this pandemic and was convinced that he would be a Liverpool player very soon.

Now, however, I think that, like many things at the moment, it is uncertain.

Werner has had an incredible season. He has been fantastic for a few years in Leipzig, but this year, under the fantastic training of Julian Nagelsmann, he has further intensified his game and has been one of the best scorers in Europe.

There is no doubt that he will bring something different to our team and will improve it, and I think it is a transfer that both Klopp and the club, as well as Werner himself, want.

That said, a move to the UK simply cannot be allowed amid the pandemic, and a Naby Keita-like deal may be possible with the striker’s signature, but won’t join until next summer.

Mohamed Salah and his agent criticized Sky Sports this week for their “keep or sell” post on Instagram. Does this prove that the Egyptian is still underrated?

It was an extremely bad move by Sky, and in my opinion, Salah responded perfectly.

Salah has shown, since joining Liverpool, that he is a world-class player and that many times, including myself, we underestimate him.

When you look at the Egyptian’s statistics, they show exactly how good he has been since he returned to England.

His goal scoring in his first season in Liverpool was incredible and it was always going to be an almost impossible task to reach those numbers again, but he was also the joint winner of the Golden Boot last season and has been a star player on a team that He has broken so many records this season as well.

I think it can be greedy at times? Yes, absolutely, but all good scorers have an element of greed in their game.

It shows that they have faith in their own ability and we have also seen how disinterested Salah can be at times as well.

We are the best team in the world right now and there is absolutely no reason why we need or want to sell Salah.

Kevin de Bruyne has questioned his future at Manchester City this week due to his possible ban from the Champions League. Liverpool couldn’t move … or could it?

Haha! That would be absolutely brilliant. De Bruyne is world class, an absolutely phenomenal player that I would love to see at the club that he supported as a child.

However, I think it would be highly unlikely to happen. It would be incredibly shameless of us to make an offer.

Why not, I suppose? Although I just spoke about the concern that we don’t have the finances for Werner this summer and Kevin de Bruyne would be much more than that.

However, the Man City thing is interesting as they have so many world class players that I doubt they will walk if their appeal fails and they are without European football for a couple of years.

Loris Karius has finished her loan move with Besiktas. What happens next to him? Is there any way I can reconcile at Anfield?

I did a show for Redmen TV earlier this week – it’s a difficult situation with Karius as I don’t think for a second that he should have stayed at Besiktas where the Turkish club was just bothering him.

But that doesn’t mean I welcome him with open arms!

Karius showed, before Kiev, that he can be a good goalkeeper; People often forget that he had more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the Champions League that year and that he had also produced great performances for us in the league.

With that said, Kyiv hurt a lot and caused damage that Karius has never recovered from.

I just think, like Simon Mignolet, the club has surpassed Karius.

I know many will point out to me the fact that Adrian has also made a few mistakes, but I still think that overall he has been better than Karius.

I am one of many who would not trust Karius among posts again.

It is the anniversary of Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over Barcelona on Thursday. What night was that …

I often tell my dad, who sat next to me in Anfield that night, that as a childless man or wife, that was easily the best night of my life.

Although he has been happily married for 22 years and has three children, I know he was secretly his too!

Although I remember Istanbul, I was very young at the time and I saw it on a television screen and it was a completely different feeling.

The whole night was perfect. The fact that it was Lionel Messi’s Barcelona and that it was supposedly “his year”; the fact that we were 3-0 down and without Salah and Firmino; the atmosphere; marker; the ‘corner taken quickly, ORIGIIIIIIII …’

A lot of crazy and amazing things happened that night and it was certainly a night that I will never forget.

Essential Liverpool FC news

Any other business?

Right now, for selfish reasons, I can’t wait for football to return and I hope it will sooner rather than later.

But in the past few weeks and months I have come to realize that sometimes there are actually more important things than football and that footballers are actually human beings.

However, as we are past the peak of this horrible virus and an exit plan is being discussed, the world is starting to return to normal again.

Yes, it is not completely normal, but somehow, and for all the people anxious to see canceled this season, this might surprise you, but that means that football will also find a new normal for the moment.

I have accepted that I will not be able to celebrate the first league title of my life as I wanted, and there will probably not be a trophy parade for our first league title in 30 years, but it makes me want to win next year now as well.

There are so many questions and doubts about football right now, we don’t know what will happen to the transfer market, we don’t know when football will return, we don’t know what will happen in the coming seasons.

One thing we do know is that Liverpool WILL be champion this season and that is something that keeps me smiling, stuck at home every day.
