PETALING JAYA: A maximum of three people from the same household can now travel in a single car as of today under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri said.

The same rule applies to e-hailing or ride-sharing services like taxis or Grab rides, which can now carry a maximum of three passengers at a time, including the driver.

He said the easing of the restrictions comes after the government became aware of public outcry about the two people in a car crash.

“We listen to the views and opinions of the public and therefore the National Security Council (NSC) has decided to impose with immediate effect allowing up to three passengers in a single car from the same household, which also includes those of electronic calling services, ”he said.

Previously, a maximum of two people was allowed in a vehicle and those wishing to travel with more than two people were advised to request the necessary authorization letter from the police to avoid being fined.

In early October, it was reported that the police fined three passengers from the same home as they commuted to open their family business, which was said to be unfair to merchants and business owners who only had one vehicle to open. travel.
