The Steve Hemmerstoffer (also known as @Onleaks) is on a roll. Shortly after releasing high resolution renders of the Samsung Galaxy S21, it also posted CAD renders of the Galaxy S21 Ultra. This would be the new top of the line model that will replace the current Galaxy S20 Ultra.
True to its Ultra name, the device will have a larger screen that is said to measure between 6.7 “and 6.9”. Samsung still retains a dual-curved display for its more expensive model, but its curvature appears to be less prominent compared to its predecessor. Samsung is also likely to continue pushing a high screen refresh rate of at least 120Hz.
If you flip it backwards, the Galaxy S21 Ultra comes with a big bump that houses four cameras. One of them has a rectangular module that indicates it is a periscope telephoto camera. Unlike the standard S21, the LED flash is positioned inside the camera’s stop.
In this year’s Galaxy S20 Ultra, Samsung boasts a 100x spatial zoom that is achieved by combining images taken with its 48MP telephoto camera with its 108MP main sensor. It would be interesting to see if Samsung can raise the bar higher considering they’ve taken a step back on the Note 20 Ultra with a 50x lower spatial zoom.
According to Steve, many had speculated that the next S21 Ultra could come with an S Pen. As of its versions, the new Samsung flagship does not come with an S Pen silo, however, he added that there is a possibility that the hardware will still support it, but as a separate accessory.
If you want to see how it compares to the standard Galaxy S21, you can see both renders side by side below.
Note that the name of the Galaxy S21 Ultra is not confirmed yet and that Samsung may make a jump from S20 to S30 similar to Huawei’s flagship line. It is speculated that Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event may take place in January 2021.
Since Malaysia is a key market, you can expect Samsung Malaysia to offer pre-orders soon after its global launch. Looking at this year’s Galaxy S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra, get ready to shell out over RM5,000 for the next Ultra when it goes on sale.
