PETALING JAYA, Nov 13 – The next time you order from the AirAsia Food App, you may have the opportunity to meet AirAsia Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes.
That is if your recent social media post is of any use.
The business mogul uploaded a photo, which later went viral on social media, of himself standing next to an AirAsia delivery bike with a helmet in hand, as he captioned the post saying he was “preparing to make food deliveries to your home. ” .
This intrigued many social media users, as his post garnered over 14,000 likes, and many are eager to know whether “Uncle Tony” will actually be making his rounds as a passenger and whether the recently launched food delivery service by the airline will be available in their regions. .
Some users even mentioned that they tried ordering food through the app to hopefully catch a glimpse of Tony, but they have not been successful so far.
Well, you might not want to give up just yet, as AirAsia food chief Sabrina Khaw said. Malay Post Tony will deliver food to customers starting in December this year.
“Tony has been very supportive of our food business and he really is someone who is involved,” she said.
“He has been working to get his motorcycle license just so he can start delivering food for AirAsia.”
Khaw also said that in order for Tony to be his designated courier, he will have to enter the phrase “Red vs Pink vs Green” in the order instructions when placing an order.
Tony will deliver food for AirAsia from December 1 to December 25.
The AirAsia Food App acts as a microsite in AirAsia’s “Asean Super App”, airasia.com, and was launched in May earlier this year as an initiative to support local businesses during these difficult times.
Unlike most food delivery platforms, the airline’s app claims to offer a competitive zero percent commission model to merchants who sign up for its delivery services.
AirAsia Food has over 200 merchants available in the app comprising a variety of local and franchise food and beverage outlets such as Santan (of course), Naughty Nuri’s and TGI Fridays.
Khaw added that the food app also gives merchants the ability to monitor menu and price changes instantly, and increase their delivery coverage up to 60 kilometers.
The app also offers a simple online registration process, with no hidden fees, contracts, or forms for merchants, while customers can even enjoy earning and using BIG Points in the company app.
The airline’s platform also offers free delivery for orders within 20 kilometers and discounts of up to 30 percent, but is currently only available within the Klang Valley.
However, expansion plans to other local states and neighboring countries such as Indonesia are already in the pipeline.
AirAsia’s diversification plans were revealed last month, marking the company’s transformation from a digital airline to a comprehensive lifestyle platform for all.
The application platform will offer various types of products and services in three main categories which are travel, e-commerce and financial technology.
