Liverpool have met their European rivals for the 2020/21 campaign following the Champions League group stage draw in Geneva on Thursday.
The 2019 tournament winners have faced Ajax, Atalanta and FC Midtjylland.
The Reds were placed in Group D alongside teams from the Netherlands, Italy and Denmark respectively.
The group stage will begin later this month, with matches scheduled for October 20/21 and October 27/28.
The next game days are scheduled for November 3, November 24 and 25, December 1/2 and December 8 and 9.
Liverpool will be desperate to do better in the competition this season after being eliminated in the knockout stage last season against Atlético de Madrid.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds had the desperate misfortune of not beating the Spanish giants after a performance at Anfield that was among the best of the German manager’s management at Liverpool.
Unfortunately, Liverpool were overtaken by their own misfortunes alongside an outstanding defense from Diego Simeone’s well-organized team.
One player who can’t wait for Liverpool to start their European campaign is new signing Thiago Alcantara.
The Spaniard is the only player from Klopp’s team to enter the competition as reigning champion after his European Cup success with Bayern Munich last month.
Thiago wasted no time reacting to the draw, making it clear that he is desperate to get back into action and help his new team to be crowned Continental Kings for the seventh time.

It certainly promises to be a strike group with Ajax and Atalanta among the surprise packages in the competition for the previous two seasons.
