Thiago Alcantara does not set a date for his return to action with Liverpool after admitting that he is only taking his recovery “step by step”.
The Spanish midfielder has been out of the game since suffering a knee injury as a result of Richarlison’s terrible entry into the Merseyside derby in October.
But Liverpool posted footage of Thiago on the pitch for the first time on Thursday as they accelerate his rehabilitation.
Thiago’s return will be a much-needed boost for his team amid the ongoing injury crisis, but he’s not sure when we can expect to see him again in a red jersey.
When asked if he had a date in mind for his return, the 29-year-old told Liverpool’s official website: “No, I just do it step by step.
“We always try [do it] as if we had a wall in front of us, saying ‘OK, you have to take a step back before you can move forward’.
“Now we think we are in a good mood and looking forward to the end of the year to try to train at another time with the team.”
Thiago’s final step in training involves general movement activities, with some progress to be made before he can consider joining his teammates in regular full contact sessions.

It has been an extremely interesting start to the season for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Their title defense got off to a shaky start when they overcame a seven-goal thriller against Leeds, before going to seven conceded in a beating of Aston Villa.
Virgil van Dijk’s season ended through injury in a 2-2 draw at Everton, leaving the title favorites much less secure in the back, especially with Alisson’s concern about injury.
But there is no slowdown in what will be a busy season, with Klopp making sure his men keep up with him as they fight for more titles.

So far this season, Thiago has played only twice for his new team, but was rewarded for his excellent form this year at the FIFA FIFPro’s Best awards on Thursday night.
Thiago was voted Team of the Year for his impressive work for the team that won the Bayern Munich treble last season.
He was also nominated for the top individual award, won by Robert Lewandowski, by his Reds teammates Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson.

When asked about his time so far at Anfield, Thiago replied: “The team was doing well the last few years, it’s not just about this season, it’s about the last few years; they were putting on an incredible performance not only in the Premier League but also in the Champions League.
“The positive part is [the opportunity] learn more about the club and learn more about the players from off the pitch “.
Jurgen Klopp said at his press conference on Friday: “He [Thiago] is eager (to jump-start his career at Liverpool). We are already joking that we should sign Thiago in January!
“We won’t rush, but it’s good to have him on the field. He’s not training as a team yet, that’s the final step.”
