KUALA LUMPUR: The Police Integrity and Compliance Department (JIPS) has received many complaints from the public about them for failing to fulfill their responsibilities as law enforcement officers.
Bukit Aman JIPS Director Zamri Yahya said these allegations included police chiefs who did not act against drug trafficking and gambling unions despite reports against them.
He said there were allegations that these officers ignored reports made by the public and allowed these activities in their respective areas.
“There were complaints from district police chiefs who conspired with drug trafficking and gambling unions and obtained rewards for doing so.
“However, when we checked, there had been no such reports from affected areas,” he said.
Zamri said the issue of misconduct and integrity among members of the police force continued to be raised by the public even though disciplinary action had been taken against the identified offenders since 1986.
Meanwhile, the director of the Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, Razarudin Husain, said that he will not engage with any officer or person associated with drug syndicates.
“I cannot deny that there are policemen involved in the sale of ketum. We have received reports about this and these individuals will be charged in court, ”he said.
