COVID-19 | The Covid-19 situation fell to its worst level yesterday, as the country recorded the highest number of infected patients in treatment since the start of the pandemic in January.
Minutes after the director general of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, announced the record numbers on live television (691 new cases and 2,936 patients in treatment), Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin took the air to address the deterioration of the situation.
There has been a backlash against politicians, who are blamed by some for allegedly not taking sufficient precautions during the Sabah elections and then bringing the coronavirus to their home states.
Muhyiddin was aware of this in his speech, emphasizing how he had taken precautions while campaigning in Sabah and expressing his disappointment that some had still managed to become infected.
