KOTA BHARU: Barisan Nasional (BN), Secretary General Tan Sri Annuar Musa (pix) has stressed that the UMNO cannot advance alone in the political arena if it is to succeed in the 15th general election (GE15).

Annuar said that going solo is not a winning formula for UMNO and did not agree with the decision if there are sectors in the party that expressed their objection to alliances forged with other parties.

“We should not fantasize about going alone, even if there are others who want to do it because I don’t agree. It is not a winning formula. I also love to party, but if my opinion is wrong, I am wrong.

“However, I conducted a survey prior to this to see the reality that UMNO cannot be alone if it wants to be successful. UMNO needs to cooperate with the concept of ‘taawun (mutual aid) and tahaluf (collaboration) if we want to be successful, ”he said at a press conference after opening the Ketereh UMNO delegate meeting near here today.

Annuar also proposed five issues that UMNO leaders should focus on in order to restore people’s trust and confidence in the party.

Commenting further, he said that the UMNO should be the party to lead and guide towards uniting Muslims and not as the source of division among themselves, regardless of those inside or outside the party.

“UMNO shouldn’t be the champion of dividing the people. I do not agree if we are the source of the rupture, in rejecting this person or in rejecting that person, ”he said.

Besides listening to the rank and file, Annuar, who is also the division head of UMNO Ketereh, said that UMNO should come out of the old cocoon that became the main reason why people rejected UMNO from various aspects, including the individuals, programs, and political policies of parties.

“The warlords are not the base, my level as division chief is not the base, as we sometimes speak in our personal opinion. We do not speak to members below and if we do tell members below, we must understand that we are still in the minority.

“The majority are voters who are not our members. So, it is important for us to listen to the voice of the people in addition to listening to the voice of the rank and file, ”he explained.

Furthermore, the Ketereh MP also asked UMNO to go back to basics, which is to be close to the hearts of Muslims and Malays. –Called
