PETALING JAYA: Ni Hayati Bachok, the Amanah Assemblywoman from Maharani, Johor, tested positive for Covid-19 after her second test.
Ni Hayati tested negative for the first time after the first evaluation on September 26.
He went for a second test on Sunday and remained in quarantine until the second test came back positive.
A statement from his office said that he had taken the initiative to self-quarantine upon returning from Sabah, adding that he also did not attend any events after that.
“All close contacts of Nor Hayati have been identified by the Muar district health office and have undergone screening and are awaiting the results,” his office said.
He urged Maharani residents to stop panicking over viral messages about Nor Hayati’s condition and seek verified information from the Health Ministry.
The office said viral messages about the assemblyman’s health also revealed personal information about his family.
“We have identified the people who started to spread the message and we have filed a police report and we will follow up with legal action,” he said.
