Speaking to Sophy Ridge on Sky News, General Sir Nick Carter warned that the coronavirus pandemic and the social and economic instability that is currently paralyzing the world could lead to World War III. The UK Chief of Defense Staff warned that regional conflicts around the world could escalate as sides. they misjudge the seriousness of their actions.
He said, “We are living in a time when the world is a very uncertain and anxious place.
“And of course the dynamics of global competition is also a feature of our lives.
“The real risk that we have with a lot of regional conflicts that we have right now is that you could see that escalation leads to miscalculation.”
He added: “An escalation means more people get involved, more weapons get involved and before you can contain it, it leads the sides to explode in a full-blown war.

“If that happens, as we saw in the last century …
“We must remember that history may not repeat itself, but it has a rhythm.
“And if you look back at the last century before the two world wars, I think it was indisputable that there was an escalation that led to miscalculation that ultimately led to war on a scale that we hope we will never see again.”

“There are others who are better qualified to do it, I would suggest.”
