Hitz FM Sarawak announcer DJ Yusuf resigned after poking fun at a science teacher’s English.
Muhammad Yusuf Shukri or DJ Yusuf took to TikTok last week to poke fun at a teacher’s English pronunciation as she explained the human reproductive system on an educational television show.
Netizens then lashed out at the radio host, prompting Hitz FM to suspend him from duty while they investigate the matter.
The 29-year-old later posted an apology video on Instagram.
“It wasn’t funny at all … It was very degrading, disrespectful and disgusting of me to make a video like that and so I want to sincerely apologize to her,” he said.
On February 22, Hitz FM announced that DJ Yusuf had resigned from his position.
“Hitz remains committed to keeping Malaysians informed and entertained. Following an internal investigation into the recent controversy involving one of our announcers, we have accepted his resignation as of February 22, 2021 ”.
