PETALING JAYAThe public has been urged to refrain from spreading false news, further disturbing a nation battling a third wave of Covid-19 as the government has had to refute nearly 400 false reports about the pandemic as of now.

“Today, there was a viral fake news post stating that 90% of people tested positive for Covid-19 after visiting shopping malls in the Klang Valley,” Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri said yesterday. Yaakob.

Aside from fake news, another problem for the government was the high number of people who continued to breach the restrictions of the conditional movement control order (CMCO).

According to Ismail Sabri, 434 people were arrested Tuesday for various crimes.

A total of 188 were arrested for not wearing masks and 77 for not practicing social distancing.

Meanwhile, 83 commercial operators were arrested for failing to provide equipment to monitor customers at their facilities, while 86 were arrested for other crimes.

Of those arrested, 400 were given compounds and 34 were placed in preventive detention.

Ops Benteng also saw 37 illegal immigrants arrested, as well as 10 vehicles seized.

Ismail Sabri also said that the Ministry of International Trade and Industry will make an announcement on the issue of government and private workers who have been ordered to work from home from today until the CMCO is lifted.
