The prosecution files two medical reports in the case of the rape of a famous preacher

SHAH ALAM: The prosecution has filed two medical reports on a rape case involving celebrated preacher Da’i Syed, whose real name is Syed Shah Iqmal Syed Mohammad Shaiful, in the Court of Sessions here today.

Deputy Prosecutor Nor Baizura Mohd Saubian announced to Judge Rihaida Rafie that the prosecution had provided the defense with two medical reports, one from the Shah Alam hospital near here and from the Temerloh hospital in Pahang.

“However, another medical document from Kajang Hospital, as well as a chemical report, have not been delivered to the defense, but will be delivered soon,” he said during the mention of the case.

Lawyer Syed Amirul Syed Edros, representing Syed Shah Iqmal, confirmed that he had received the two medical documents and the court set May 5 for the referral of the case.

On December 10 of last year, Syed Shah Iqmal, 25, pleaded not guilty to the charge of raping a 23-year-old woman in a condo room in I-City, Section 7 here at approximately 11:35 p.m. September 2019. under Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code that establishes a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and flogging if convicted.

Syed Shah Iqmal was also indicted in the Petaling Jaya Court of Sessions for carnal relations against the order of nature and for outraging the modesty of a private university student in the Petaling Jaya Magistrates Court.

Both charges were allegedly carried out in a room rented by the defendants in Damansara Perdana on October 17 of last year. Called
