KUALA LUMPUR: Klang Valley residents have been urged to comply with the conditional motion control order (MCO).
Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah (Photo) said that with the addition of 76 cases on Saturday, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Selangor was now 3,880.
“The increase in local broadcasts in Selangor started on October 2 and has been increasing steadily,” he said, adding that if one were to refer to case records in Selangor for the third wave, the first group identified was the group Jalan Apas on September 28, involving a family who had returned from Sabah.
He also said that 196 cases in Selangor have a history of travel to Sabah, adding that subsequently, nine groups were identified involving these individuals.
“That said, local broadcasts started to take place leading to cases and 35 active groups,” he said.
“Because of this, the government also decided to implement the conditional MCO in Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur.
“It also decided that managerial level workers in the public and industrial sectors in these areas should work from home as of October 22.
“The main reason for this is for more people to stay home and reduce movements in the community, which can slow the transmission of the virus,” he said, adding that whether or not this course of action was successful would depend on compliance. and everyone’s cooperation.
