The new KL CPO takes the reins

KUALA LUMPUR: Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin (Photo) is the new chief of police in Kuala Lumpur.

He replaces Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim, who will assume the position of director of the Department of Logistics and Technology of Bukit Aman.

Bukit Aman Department of Integrity and Compliance (JIPS) Director Comm Datuk Zamri Yahya witnessed the handover during a ceremony held at the state police headquarters on Tuesday (September 8).

Comm Mazlan has been the CPO of Kuala Lumpur for over two years, while Comm Saiful Azly was previously Deputy Director of Bukit Aman’s Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID).

Comm Mazlan said he appreciated the experience of leading the Kuala Lumpur contingent.

“It has been an incredible experience these more than two years.

“I am grateful to have worked with an exceptional group of people and I am grateful for the cooperation that was shown to me,” he said.

He was also confident that Comm Saiful Azly will be able to continue all the good work done in Kuala Lumpur.

“I wish him all the best,” he added.

Meanwhile, Comm Zamri congratulated Comm Mazlan for being able to reduce the crime rate in the city.

“His efforts, through the CID, are commendable in curbing crime in the city, especially robberies,” he said.

Comm Zamri said the newly appointed Chief of Police Comm Saiful Azly will be able to lead the Kuala Lumpur police to more success.

“He has vast experience and it will benefit him in his new role,” he said.
