KUCHING (October 8): The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has identified a new Covid-19 group in the Kuching district, which has been dubbed the ‘Bah Arnab’ group.

Its president, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, said that the index case for this group involves Case 719, who was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on October 6 and had a history of traveling to Sabah.

“A total of 16 contacts close to this case were evaluated on October 6 and three of those contacts tested positive for Covid-19 on October 8, namely cases 729, 730 and 731,” he said at a press conference. at Old State. Legislative Assembly Building here today.

He said that until now, the ‘Bah Arnab’ group is still under control and only involves the immediate relatives of the index case.

“However, the State Department of Health is actively conducting further investigation and tracing of other contacts with this group to prevent the disease from spreading more seriously,” he said.

Uggah, who is also a senior deputy minister, also announced that with three new locally transmitted positive Covid-19 cases registered today in Kuching, this has resulted in the district reverting to yellow zone status after being declared a green zone yesterday. .

“The Bintulu district has also changed its status from green zone to yellow zone in light of the locally transmitted positive case detected today,” he said.

He added that the districts of Sibu and Lawas also remain as yellow zones after the three locally infected cases in Lawas and two cases in Sibu that were reported in the last 14 days.
