KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Health will carry out a risk assessment in areas that register high cases of Covid-19 to determine whether to implement an improved or conditional motion control order (MCO), says its minister Datuk Seri, Dr. Adham Baba.

This came after Malaysia recorded a total of 1,755 new Covid-19 cases on Friday (Nov 6), setting a new record for the most positive cases in one day.

Dr. Adham said the risk assessment will be conducted in areas with more than 21 cases and whether such restrictions will be imposed in a specific location, a district or the entire state.

“This is the approach that will be suggested to the National Security Council,” he told a news conference in the Parliament building.

Dr Adham said the cases were seen in several states, including Sabah and Penang, and focused on areas with large populations.

“With the sudden increase in cases, we want to control it.

“In one area, we want tighter control, but economic activities will be allowed,” he said.

Two new deaths were also recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 279.
