PETALING JAYA: The accusations about the Ministry of Health (MINSA) allowing Top Glove to operate with workers who should be in quarantine are baseless, says Chief Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said that company workers were not allowed to work until they completed their Home Surveillance Order (HSO), while those who tested positive had to be discharged by the Health Ministry.
“There are many people who said that the Ministry of Health was working with Top Glove to allow those who underwent the test to work as usual. This is not true.
“The public should not worry. They (the workers) are not authorized to be in the community, ”he said yesterday during his daily Covid-19 update.
Ismail Sabri also said that the Enhanced Motion Control (MCO) order in the Top Glove workers’ dormitories in Meru, Klang will be extended for another 14 days, from today until December 14. The dormitories were initially placed under improved OLS from November 17-30. .
Ismail Sabri said 5,805 Covid-19 tests had been performed on Top Glove workers, and 3,406 tested positive.
He said the Health Ministry’s risk assessment found that there was still a high rate of positive cases in the area, adding that those who tested negative still posed a risk and that a second test was necessary.
“All workers will have to undergo tests in private clinics while they are supervised by the Klang health department,” he said.
He said non-Malaysians who tested negative would be placed in a quarantine facility, while Malaysians would have to self-quarantine at home for 14 days.
Non-citizens who test positive will be placed in Low Risk Treatment and Quarantine Centers (PKRC), while Malaysians who test positive will be placed in Ministry of Health hospitals.
“Workers who undergo quarantine cannot return to work until a repeat test is negative and clearance from the HSO is given,” he said, adding that employers would bear the cost of testing, installation and operation. of the PKRC, food, as well as transportation.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said that two locations in Ipoh, Perak – Taman Klebang Jaya Zone A and Taman Pinji Mewah – would be under the improved MCO for 14 days from today until December 14.
This follows an increase in positive Covid-19 cases among workers at the Kamaya and Salutica factories in Ipoh.
Similarly, a temporary detention center in Sibuga, Sandakan along with Kampung Desa Bajau and Kampung Dasar Baru in Lahad Datu will be located under the improved MCO from December 2-15.
Ismail Sabri also said that the improved MCO at two locations – Putra Point in Nilai and at Sekolah Agama Bantuan Kerajaan (SABK) Maahad Al-Yahyawiah in Padang Rengas, Kuala Kangsar – had ended.
