PETALING JAYA: Chief Security Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has asked the Attorney General’s Office to investigate existing laws to see if authorities could take action against employers who do not cooperate with the government in conducting Covid tests -19 for your factory workers.
He regretted the fact that there were still employers who did not cooperate in this matter.
“We urge employers to work together with the ministry of human resources and the ministry of health because they will have significant consequences if they don’t,” he said.
Ismail added that if any of his workers test positive, the authorities would automatically shut down their entire operation.
“So it would be better if they cooperated to avoid any case involving their workers.”
So far, he said, 17,000 foreign workers have been screened since Dec. 1.
He said 550 of them tested positive for Covid-19 and 16,450 tested negative.
According to Ismail, 663 factories participated in this examination and 652 clinics conducted these tests.
The government made it mandatory as of December 1 to test all foreign workers working in all sectors of the country with the rapid antigen test kit.
Ismail said travelers entering Malaysia should take a swab test three days before departure. After that, he said they will only be quarantined for seven days, instead of 10.
“However, if travelers are unable to do a swab test before departure, they will have to undergo a swab test upon arrival in Malaysia. If they test negative, they still have to undergo a mandatory 10-day quarantine. “
On the daily operations of the enforcement agencies, Ismail said that the police arrested 201 people yesterday for crimes related to the motion control order.
