KUALA LUMPUR: PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says that the issue of the names of MPs who support him as prime minister is not a matter for the police.

“I gave the police the most cooperation.

“But what is amazing is that why focus on the 121 names of members of Parliament?

“I have told them that the issue does not concern the police or the minister who had instructed the police to find out the names.

“This is an issue that has been presented by each party president to show that there are more than 120 (names).

“I am not here to cooperate with your political masters to name names. It is not their business. It is between His Highness and myself, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, ”he said when meeting outside Bukit Aman on Friday (October 16).

Anwar insisted that he was called to Bukit Aman due to “political pressure”.

“This is clearly political harassment, and there are political instructions given to the police.

“The form of the questions and the problems depended exclusively on the deputies, who they are and their names. This is not someone else’s business.

“It is unreasonable to question what was explicitly discussed between His Highness and myself,” he said, adding that he was nonetheless satisfied with the police treatment he was given.

Bukit Gelugor’s MP Ramkarpal Singh, who acted as Anwar’s legal advisor, questioned how quickly the investigation was being carried out.

“It’s strange why all six reports are being investigated in such a rush, all at once. They usually take their time.

“These are issues that make us wonder why he is rushing,” he said.

On the issue of the proposed no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Anwar said that he had not been consulted yet because he was “busy with the police.”

Anwar was seen leaving Bukit Aman around 5pm after spending about two hours there.

Bukit Aman CID Director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed previously said that the Port Dickson MP would give his statement to the CID Special Investigation Unit as part of its investigation into a case under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code. and Section 233 of the Communication. and Multimedia Law.

Anwar was initially required to go to the federal police headquarters on Monday (October 12), but it was postponed.

On Tuesday (October 13), Anwar had an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, during which he said that he had informed the King that he had a “formidable majority” of support from Deputies in his bid to be the next prime minister.

Following this, multiple political parties have filed multiple police reports on Anwar’s claims that he had the support of more than 120 MPs in his bid to form the next government.
